Who we are, where we meet, and how we serve the Rome, Georgia community.

Shanklin Attaway American Legion Post 5 was chartered in 1925 and has served veterans and the Rome, Georgia community for over a century. We are part of The American Legion, the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization.

Where We Meet

The post meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 PM at our facility:

The Farm (Walker Farm) 493 Jones Bend Rd NE, Rome, GA 30165

The Auxiliary meets at Brookdale Senior Living, 180 Woodrow Wilson Way, Rome, GA 30165 — also on the 2nd Monday at 6:00 PM. Sons of the American Legion meet separately; see our Events page.

The American Legion Family

Our post is the parent organization for two affiliated groups, both of which have their own membership, officers, and activities:

Together we are the American Legion Family. Each group supports the others' activities and runs its own programs throughout the year.
