Auxiliary — Unit 5

The American Legion Auxiliary is one of the world’s oldest patriotic women’s organizations. Founded in 1919, today’s Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members in 9,500+ communities. Unit 5 is the chapter at Post 5 in Rome.

When and Where We Meet

2nd Monday of each month · 6:00 PM Brookdale Senior Living 180 Woodrow Wilson Way, Rome, GA 30165

The Auxiliary meets the same evening as Post 5, at a separate location nearby.

Membership Eligibility

You may be eligible to join the Auxiliary if you are a female relative of a veteran who served honorably during one of the qualifying war eras — including:

• A current member of The American Legion, or
• A veteran whose service would have made them eligible (even if deceased before ever joining)

Eligible relatives include grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of qualifying veterans.

What the Auxiliary Does at Post 5

Nationally, the Auxiliary supports veteran healthcare, advocates for veterans' families, runs the Auxiliary Girls State leadership program for high-school juniors, and partners with the Legion on its four pillars of service.
