The Sons of the American Legion at Post 5, Rome, GA.
The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was created in 1932 to give the male descendants of American Legion-eligible veterans a way to honor their service and continue the work of the Legion. Squadron 5 is the SAL chapter attached to Post 5.
When and Where We Meet
Squadron 5 meets at The Farm, 493 Jones Bend Rd NE, Rome, GA — separately from the Post 5 monthly meeting. See the Events page for the next scheduled meeting.
Membership Eligibility
You may join the Sons of the American Legion if you are a male descendant, adopted son, or stepson of:
- A current member of The American Legion, or
- A veteran whose service would have made them eligible for Legion membership, even if they died before joining
Eligible relationships include sons, grandsons, great-grandsons, and so on. There is no age limit and no upper bound on degree of descent.

What Squadron 5 Does at Post 5
Nationally, SAL members support the four pillars of the American Legion and fund the Child Welfare Foundation, scholarships, and direct veteran outreach.
