Membership Requirements
Who is eligible to join The American Legion at Post 5.
Eligibility
To join The American Legion at Post 5, you must have served at least one day of active military duty during one of the following qualifying periods, and have been honorably discharged or still be serving honorably:
- April 6, 1917 – November 11, 1918 (World War I)
- December 7, 1941 to present (any service since the start of World War II)
The “Legion Act” of 2019 effectively means anyone who served honorably after Pearl Harbor is eligible — no more “war era” gaps. If you served honorably since December 7, 1941, you qualify.
